Lava is also partly composed of silicate rock, but it is liquid because the Earth’s temperature at that depth is much higher than in the crust.

The mantle

The mantle is about 2900 kilometers thick and makes up most of the geosphere structure. It is mainly composed of hot molten rock or ionic fluid, due to temperatures in the mantle being in the thousands of degrees. Due to this high temperature, it is not solid or liquid-like like most other rocks here on Earth’s surface.

The outer core

The outer core is about 2160 kilometers thick and composed mainly of molten iron and nickel. At such a high temperature, it too is not solid or liquid-like most other rocks found on Earth’s surface.

The inner core

The inner core is about 1220 kilometers thick and composed mainly of a solid mass of iron and nickel, though it still experiences high pressure from the weight of the mantle resting above it. This high temperature and pressure also keep the inner core from being solid or liquid-like other rocks found on Earth’s surface.

Cryosphere

The ice can also have a regional effect on land elevation, which lifts up once the ice melts from its surface.  The land in north-central Canada has been gradually rising as glaciers at the North Pole have been melted.

Hydrosphere 

Carbon, an essential component of life, is bound in organic matter and carried to the ocean by wind and water erosion, eventually becoming part of the ocean floor. Ocean deposits are carried return into the earth’s interior by tectonic movement.

The erosion, transport, and deposition of sediments would not be possible without the hydrosphere’s rivers, lakes, and oceans, as well as the atmosphere’s winds and precipitation

These features can affect ecosystems because they provide resources like water to living things. Living organisms depend on these features for survival so if one of them were to change drastically it could have a negative effect on their environment or habitat

Atmosphere

The rock cycle has changed as the rate of plate tectonic movements has changed over geologic time scales, and these changes have the potential to affect climate. For example, when the rate of plate movement is high, there is increased volcanic activity, which releases more particles into the atmosphere. 

The motion of the earth’s inner core is thought to drive the earth’s magnetic field – the magnetosphere – which extends far beyond the atmosphere and shields the Earth and its biosphere from solar wind and cosmic radiation. The sun is also an important factor because it directly affects climate (and indirectly affects vegetation) 

The climate in an ecosystem is the general weather pattern in that area, and it can affect ecosystems by heating or cooling them. This influences how fast the ecosystem’s plants grow when they bud or bloom when they lose their leaves in the autumn, and when they are dormant.
