Shilpa Shetty Kundra is an Indian actress, model and businesswoman known for her work acting in some of India’s most popular movies. She has acted in popular movies like “Main Khiladi Tu Anari,” “Phir Milenge” and “Dhadkan” and has been nominated for Filmfare Awards for her work. Shilpa Shetty Kundra was born on June 8, 1975 in Mangalore, India to a mother and father who were both manufacturers of tamper-proof water caps in the pharmaceutical industry. She attended a girls’ school in Mumbai and later attended Podar College in Mumbai. Shilpa is a trained Bharatanatyam dancer.

Shilpa started her career as a model in 1991 in a Limca television commercial and followed up her debut with several other appearances in local television commercials. She started to receive invitations to act in film roles.
The model made her on screen debut several years later in 1993 in the thriller movie “Baazigar.” She received two Filmfare Awards nominations for her work, including one nomination for best supporting actress.
Shilpa had her big break when she starred in “Main Khiladi Tu Anari” in 1994, her second film ever. She played dual roles, and the movie did extremely well at the box office.
Following her big breakout, Shilpa acted in a series of unsuccessful movies, with one exception: “Jaanwar” in 1999. During this unsuccessful streak, Shilpa gained some attention for one of her songs in the crime drama “Shool.”

Around 2008, Shilpa took a break from acting and pursued several other projects. The actress was a judge on the dance reality show called “Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa” and joined the fifth season of “Celebrity Big Brother.” On Big Brother, the actress got international attention for the racism she suffered on the show; the ultimately won.
In addition, Shilpa hosted the second season of “Bigg Boss” and judged several Indian dance competition shows, including “Zara Nachke Dikha” in 2010, “Nach Baliye” from 2012 to 2014 and “Super Dancer,” which she started judging in 2016.
The actress has a number of other professional ventures in addition to her acting and television work. She loves fitness and has her own fitness program, including her own yoga DVD, for purchase. She was featured in India’s “Fit India Movement” campaign. From 2009 to 2015, Shilpa was a part-owner in the Indian Premier League Team “Rajasthan Royals.”
Shilpa has been involved with philanthropic work as well. She is vocal about women’s rights and animal rights and received the Champions of Change award for her work on the Swachh Bharat Mission cleanliness campaign.

The actress is married to Raj Kundra and has two children with him.
