Roman Bernard Atwood is an American YouTube star best known for his prank videos and comedic content on YouTube. He posts prank videos as well as family-friendly vlogs on his YouTube channel. Roman is the second YouTube star to receive two Diamond Play buttons for his two channels.
In 2019, Roman posted a video on New Year’s Eve and took several months off of YouTube with no notice or reason. He made his return in late 2020, but did not provide a reason for the long hiatus.
Roman is married to his wife, Brittney, and the pair have several kids together with another on the way.
Roman Bernard Atwood was born on May 28, 1983 in Millersport, Ohio, to Curt and Susan Atwood. Roman has been producing and editing video from a young age. Prior to his YouTube channel, Roman worked at his family’s rope business.
As of October 2020, Roman Atwood has more than 15.4 million subscribers on his “RomanAtwoodVlogs” YouTube channel, 10.5 million subscribers on his “RomanAtwood” YouTube channel, 4.8 million followers on Instagram, 2.8 million followers on Twitter, 72,000 followers on TikTok, and 1.4 million Facebook fans.
Roman started his career in video-editing by producing several DVDs titled “The Nerd Herd” and sold them at the Warped Tour in 2006. He created his first YouTube channel in 2009 and began posting pranks to his channel. His second YouTube channel, “RomanAtwoodVlogs,” started in 2013, contains pranks as well as more personal vlogs and is meant to have family-friendly content.
Roman is best-known for his prank videos and comedic content. One of his first breakout viral videos on YouTube was titled “Cops Get Owned!!!” posted in March 2012. He has since become known as one of YouTube’s pranksters, and many of his prank videos have tens of millions of views. For example, one video titled “Anniversary Prank Backfires!!”, has more than 85 million views.

Roman uploaded a video on New Year’s Eve 2019 and then left social media without giving any reason to his fans. In August 2020, Roman returned to social media and said he could not tell them why he left social media, but wanted to tell his fans that his family was safe, despite conspiracy theories. Two days later, Roman and his wife revealed they were expecting another child — and were careful to add that it was not the reason for their social media absence.
Roman was married to his first wife, Shanna Riley, for several years; their first son, Noah Vaughn Atwood, was born on October 18, 2004. In 2008, however, his wife cheated on him with a friend and Roman filed for divorce.
Roman then began dating Brittney Smith; the pair met at Roman’s friend’s wedding in 2008 where Roman was the best man. The pair got engaged on April 30, 2018 and married in July of the same year in Hawaii. The couple has two children together: Kane Alexander Atwood (born in 2011) and Cora Atwood (born in 2017). They are expecting their third child in late 2020.
On May 29, 2019, Roman’s mother Susan died unexpectedly after a tragic accident on vacation. Roman took off multiple months from his social media platforms to grieve for his mother.
