Niclas Mouritzen, better known as Pengu or G2 Pengu on social media, is a Danish professional gamer known to be one of the best Rainbow Six players in the world. The gamer has taken home first place medals in the eSports’ premier Six Invitational in 2018 and 2019 in addition to numerous other first place wins at tournaments like Six Major Paris 2018 and Dreamhack Winter 2018. Pengu also leads in the amount of prize money won at tournaments worldwide. The gamer signed with G2 eSports in 2018 to play Rainbow Six Siege competitively and has been with the team since.

Niclas Mouritzen, better known as Pengu or G2 Pengu on social media, was born on October 7, 1997 in Denmark. He was born and raised in Denmark. Not much is known about his early upbringing and childhood. 

As of September 2021, Niclas “Pengu” Mouritzen has more than 132,000 followers on Instagram, 982,500 followers on Twitch, 620,000 subscribers on YouTube, and 251,300 followers on Twitter. 

Pengu first started playing the popular game League of Legends and saw himself becoming one of the best League of Legends players. However, the time never came and instead, the player transitioned to another multiplayer online battle arena game. 

Pengu began his gaming career in 2016 as a professional Rainbow Six Siege player with PENTA Sports. One year later, in 2017, he took home his second Pro League championship with the Esports team. 

Pengu signed with G2 eSports in 2018 to play Rainbow Six Siege competitively with the team in what G2 considered the most dominant roster in the game’s history. 

“The G2 army is bigger and stronger than ever, and I am proud to be a part of the organization. G2 has shown nothing but full trust in our capabilities as players and the support they have brought is unrivaled. With everything on the table we are hoping to bring the siege team back to our prime and retake our spot at the top,” Pengu said in a statement. 

Since joining the team, the player has been taking home numerous trophies and first place finishes. The gamer has taken home first place medals in the eSports’ premier Six Invitational in 2018 and 2019 in addition to numerous other first place wins at tournaments like Six Major Paris 2018 and Dreamhack Winter 2018. Pengu also leads in the amount of prize money won at tournaments worldwide. 

The professional gamer is perhaps best known for his consistent gameplay and flexible operator pool. “Whether on Montagne or his signature Smoke, you can always trust Pengu to buckle down and do whatever it takes to win,” G2 Esports writes on their website. 

Pengu, who has been playing Rainbow Six Siege for many years now, hopes that 2020 will mark the year the game becomes a Tier 1 Esport like Fortnite and Call of Duty.

The game isn’t perfect, no game is but Ubisoft’s vision and plan for the game is stronger than ever, I see great things coming this year. THIS is the year we go tier 1 esports on a global level,” the player tweeted.
