Christopher Comstock, known by his stage name Marshmello, is an American electronic music DJ and producer. The DJ first shot to fame with his popular remixes of songs by American DJ duo Jack Ü and Russian-German DJ Zedd. Some of his most popular songs include “Silence”, “Wolves”, “Friends”, “Happier”, and “Alone,” all of which have since been certified multi-platinum and topped the charts.

Christopher Comstock, known by his stage name Marshmello, was born on May 19, 1992 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. 

As of September 2021, Christopher has more than 23 million TikTok followers, 53.8 million YouTube subscribers, 19 million Facebook followers, 2.4 million Twitter followers and 29.3 million Instagram followers. 

Marshmello first started his career by posting songs for free to the music platform SoundCloud. The more he posted, the more he got noticed: at one point, Skrillex reposted one of his songs on his SoundCloud. He began doing live performances around the U.S. The DJ shot to fame with his popular remixes of songs by American DJ duo Jack Ü and Russian-German DJ Zedd.

Marshmello is known for wearing a white mask on his face that looks like a marshmallow for all his public appearances, inspired by DeadMau5 and his head gear. For many years during his career, the DJ was anonymous. However, in a 2017 profile, Forbes unmasked him as Christopher Comstock. Up to that point, many people had suspected Christopher was Marshmello. 

In January 2016, the musician and producer released his first album: “Joytime,” which included the hit single “Keep It Mello” and the platinum-certified “Alone.’ The album was released through the Canadian label Monstercat. 

He followed up the album with several additional hit singles: “Chasing Colors”, “Twinbow” and “Moving On.” 

The following year, in 2017, Marshmello collaborated with popular artist Khalid to release his hit single “Silence,” which became certified platinum and multi-platinum in several countries.He then collaborated with Selena Gomez on the single “Wolves,” which remains one of his most popular songs to date. 

In 2018, he released a collaboration with British singer Anne-Marie titled “Friends” and later that year, his second studio album titled “Joytime II.” The album had a number of popular singles, including “Tell Me” and “Check This Out.” 

Later that year, the DJ’s highest-charting song to date, “Happier,” was released. The collaboration with British band Bastille made the Billboard Hot 100. 

In addition to his DJ career, Marshmello has expanded to social media. He has amassed tens of millions of followers across all social media platforms. 

On YouTube, the DJ has branched out to post not just music videos, but also cooking and gaming videos in the series “Gaming with Marshmello” and “Cooking with Marshmello.” 

His reps are building him a kid-friendly brand that includes Halloween costumes, snack foods, cooking shows and even an animated kids series to expand his brand and income streams. 

Marshmello has been named as one of the highest paid DJs in the world by Forbes in 2017. From June 2016 to 2017, he earned $21 million.
