Mads started dating fellow social media star Jaden Hossler in 2019, but the couple’s relationship ended just a few months later amid rumors that Jaden had cheated. Chase Hudson, a fellow TikTok star and member of the Hype House, called out Jaden for trying to hook up with Dixie D’Amelio and cheating on Mads “endless amount of times […] for the past few months.”
Mads also dated Charles Gitnick from 2018 to 2019 prior to that.
Mads also faced some controversy since becoming famous. Fans called her out for blackfishing, a term used to describe when a non-Black person alters their appearance (using a variety of techniques, like editing, bronzer or surgery) to appear black.
“I’ve seen a lot of tweets about me (blackfishing), back in winter i was getting spray tans because there was no sun to tan. that’s all. i apologize if i offended anyone. i do not spray tan for any other reason but to look like i got some sun,” Mads tweeted in response on Sept. 7.
“Please keep in mind tho, the photos you are comparing have different lighting and professional edits on them. so again i apologize if i offended anyone those were not my intentions,” she said.
