Mackenzie Ziegler is an American dancer, singer and actress best known for her role as a young child on “Dance Moms.” Since her appearance on the Lifetime show, Mackenzie has gone on to act in several TV shows and movies as well as release multiple popular singles, including a duet with pop star Sia.

Mackenzie Frances Ziegler was born on June 4, 2004 in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania to parents Melissa and Kurt. She has one biological sister, Maddie, who is a fellow dancer and actress. In addition, she has two half-brothers and two older step-siblings. 

As of September 2021, Mackenzie has more than 14.9 million followers on Instagram, 21.5 million followers on TikTok, 3.76 million YouTube subscribers, 1.1 million Twitter followers and 907,000 Facebook fans. 

Mackenzie, known to her fans as Kenzie, started dancing at just two years old and later joined the Abby Lee Dance Company in Pittsburgh. She first appeared on Lifetime’s hit show “Dance Moms” in 2011 as a young child alongside her mom and sister Maddie. The young dancer also appeared on “Abby’s Ultimate Dance Competition” and “Abby’s Studio Rescue.” Kenzie left the show in 2016 to pursue other projects. 

Kenzie ventured into the music industry in 2014 and released her debut album, “Mack Z,” which topped the charts. She also used the name Mack Z as her stage name. The single “Girl Party” became a hit, and the music video has been viewed more than 70 million times. Kenzie kept releasing music under the name Mack Z for the next few years and had several more hit songs, including “”Shine.”

In 2016, Mackenzie released her first single under her full name, Mackenzie Ziegler. The song was a duet with Johnny Orlando titled “Day & Night.” The song’s music video has since been viewed more than 20 million times. The following year, Mackenzie and Johnny embarked on their “Day and Night Tour” through the U.S. and the U.K. 

Kenzie released her second studio album “Phases,” in 2018 and debut one of the songs titled “Wonderful” on the show “Dancing with the Stars: Juniors.” The following year in 2019, she toured the U.S. as the opening act for “Pretty Much.” In 2020, her new song “Exhale,” a duet with Sia, was released. 

The year after launching her music career in 2014, Kenzie made her acting debut in Nickelodeon’s “Nicky, Ricky, Dicky & Dawn.” She returned to the show again in 2017. In addition she appeared in a commercial for WowWee with her sister Maddie.   

The following year, Kenzie starred as Cassie in “Total Eclipse” on the Brat Network. Kenzie is an executive producer on the show as well. In 2018, she starred on “Dancing With the Stars: Juniors” and made it to the finals, only to take home second place. In 2019, she starred in the animated film “Ice Princess Lily.” 

Kenzie has also ventured into fashion and beauty. In 2014, Mackenzie and her sister Maddie released a limited edition fashion line through Mod Angel called “The Maddie and Mackenzie Collection.” In 2015, she walked the Polo Ralph Lauren runway in New York City and later became the face of their 2016 children’s collection. She launched her own cosmetics line, “Love, Kenzie,” in 2018. 

Kenzie has been the spokeswoman for a number of campaigns. In 2016, Kenzie and Maddie were the face of the Clean & Clear Back to School campaign. In 2017, Kenzie was named the brand ambassador for the girl’s fashion line Emily West. She has worked on an active, dance-inspired line for the retailer Justice. She even appeared in an ad for General Electric in 2017. 

In 2008, Kenzie released a self-help book titled “Kenzie’s Rules for Life: How to Be Happy, Healthy and Dance to Your Own Beat.” 

Kenzie and her sister Maddie have done a number of dance workshops across the world as well, including in Australia and New Zealand. 

Kenzie has done a number of benevolent work as well. She has worked with the Starlight Children’s Foundation, Dancers Against Cancer and more.
