Clay, better known as Dream or DreamWasTaken on social media, is an American YouTube gamer best known for his Minecraft videos on YouTube. For many years, Clay had just 1,000 subscribers on his channel — until 2019, when he suddenly exploded in popularity and gained more than 11 million followers in a little over a year. His Min craft challenge videos and his Minecraft mystery videos are both popular on his channel. 

Dream has been nominated for the 10th annual Streamy Awards in 2020 in the Gaming and Breakout Creator categories.

Clay, better known as Dream or DreamWasTaken on social media, was born on August 12, 1999 in the United States. He grew up with two sisters and a younger brother. Growing up, Clay played football at his high school flag football team as well as basketball and soccer. He worked for AppleCare for a period of time as well. 

As of September 2021, Clay, better known as DreamWasTaken, has more than 3.1 million followers on Instagram, 25.8 million subscribers on YouTube, 5.4 million followers on Twitch and 61,000 followers on Facebook. His Twitter account, previously under @DreamWasTaken, no longer exists. 

Clay opened his YouTube account in 2014. In the past, his accounts have had multiple names, including Dream, DreamWasTaken, DreamTraps, DreamOnPvP, DreamAF and DeltaNinja.

One of Clay’s oldest uploads is back from 2014: a video titled “1000 subs.” For many years, Clay was stuck at 1,000 subscribers. In 2019, though, he got his first breakthrough. He posted the video titled “this cursed Minecraft video will trigger you…” and from then on out, he began posting much more consistently and started growing followers rapidly. 

In addition, Clay got a lot of attention when he organized a project to find fellow gamer PewDiePie’s Minecraft world seed. Prior to this, he used to administer BadBoyHalo’s Minecraft and Discord servers.

His YouTube account has one primary focus: Minecraft. Clay posts play-throughs, commentary videos, challenge videos and more relating to the video game Minecraft. In addition, his YouTube series titled “Minecraft Speedrunner VS 1/2/3/4 Hunter(s)” is popular among his followers. Another one of his popular series include the “Unsolved Mystery” series, where he points out and analyzes strange things in Minecraft. 

Dream will frequently collaborate with fellow stars GeorgeNotFound, Sapnap, and BadBoyHalo.

Dream has been nominated for the 10th annual Streamy Awards in 2020 in the Gaming and Breakout Creator categories.
