Ryan Chaplo, better known on social media as Chap, is an American professional gamer best known for his Fortnite gameplay. Chap first started his gaming career in January 2018; the gamer had a quick rise to fame when he started playing the popular video game Fortnite, by Epic Games. Several months after launching his social media accounts, Chap joined the prestigious Team Liquid in June 2018. 

In April 2020, Chap announced he would be leaving Team Liquid after two years playing Fortnite with the team. The reason behind the decision, he said, came down to the contract. The professional gamer later signed with Cloud9 gaming, but the team released Chap and another professional gamer without explanation in January 2021.

Ryan Chaplo, better known on social media as Chap, was born on October 21, 1994 in New Jersey, the United States. 

As of September 2021, Chap has more than 1.3 million followers on Twitch, 458,000 subscribers on YouTube, 950,000 followers on Instagram, and 701,600 followers on Twitter. 

Chap first started his gaming career in January 2018 when he set up his Twitch and YouTube social media channels. Chap would post highlights and funny moments from Fortnite to his YouTube channel. He became one of the first players to improvise zone movements in the game.

In April 2020, Chap announced he would be leaving Team Liquid after two years playing Fortnite with the team. The reason behind the decision, he said, came down to the contract. He also announced that he would be fielding offers from other teams interested. 

“I mean Liquid isn’t completely out of the picture guys just so you know,” Chap later explained on a livestream. “Worst case scenario I could always go back to Liquid and accept that offer but I already have offers that are better so that probably wouldn’t happen.” He added that at the time, he had no official offers but mere proposals that would likely outmatch Team Liquid. 

The professional gamer later signed with Cloud9 gaming, but the team released Chap and another professional gamer without explanation in January 2021. 

“These drops may appear random but [sic] thee were carefully considered decisions: These players were released after falling short across a range of metrics including but not limited to competitive performance. We wish them the best in the future,” the organization said.
