The Best Fire Emblem Game Poll : Vote For Your Favourite Fire Emblem Games

Gavin loves a bit of couch co-op, especially when he gets to delegate roles, bark instructions and give much-appreciated performance feedback at the end. He lives in Spain (the plain-y bit where the rain mainly falls) and his love for Banjo-Kazooie borders on the unhealthy.

This is slightly rigged due to the difference in sales figures. The 2 games that sold the most are the most popular.

*

Dezzy I wouldn’t say it’s rigged, that’s just the nature of polls. Sites try to create algorithms to account for the discrepancy including Rate Your Music but ultimately, popularity often equals acclaim.

Sat 29th Feb 2020

Shadow Dragon is my favorite Fire Emblem with Radiant Dawn, Thracia 776 and Mystery of the Emblem close behind. I voted the 2 that are on the list.

Sat 29th Feb 2020

I look forward to seeing how this ends up. While awakening and three houses seem to have the top two places sewn up, either could still take top spot. And the rest could still end up in any order by the look of it.

Sat 29th Feb 2020

I”m not in a position to vote, but my advance knowledge to date tempts me to mark Three Houses, Fates and Awakening as the available three options. And only begrudgingly leave out Echoes (with its dungeon exploration and Celica, dagnabit!) with the “remake” excuse. For all its general merits and legacy, the franchise has evidently been on fire since 3DS era. Some may scoff at the increased social simulation elements, but they don”t sound anything but plausible in the series that puts such an emphasis on individual units to nourish the player”s bitterness at the prospect of losing any of them forever (be it to own neglect, a devious crit from the blue or almost trollish sidequest unlock requirements). And the overall amount of content, options and mechanics added on top of that rests my case. Heck, if not for some natural limitations of a mobile freemium, Heroes would get an honorable mention for all the stuff it does and nails. Warriors is a crossover (would Cadence of Hyrule and Hyrule Warriors likewise feature in a Zelda poll?), but like I said before, it”s a high quality representative of both its components as well.

Sat 29th Feb 2020

I don”t understand why you don”t put the whole series on the list.

I love the difficult map and scenario design of Fire Emblem 6: Binding Blade, and you don”t really need to pay attention to the story to appreciate it. It being a Japan-only release is not a significant detriment because any fan who knows how GBA-Emblem works can play it untranslated just fine.

Sat 29th Feb 2020

Mother_Fan Hahahaha, that whas funny i wanted to write the same thing.

Sat 29th Feb 2020

nessisonett

I bet if you ask people to give each game a score out of 10, it will give you a different outcome than this approach does.

Sat 29th Feb 2020

My first Fire Emblem game was The Sacred Stones. Awakening is amazing, and my third pick was Echoes.

Sat 29th Feb 2020

Of the ones I”ve played, I”d rank them:Three Houses > Awakening > Fire Emblem (GBA) > Fates: Birthright > Fates: Conquest

nessisonett unlikely, if we are still working on the presumption that the most popular games will be the most voted on then they would still achieve the higher numbers

Sat 29th Feb 2020

I’ve only tried the recent entries, all of which I love.

So I feel my vote would just skew things. I’d love it if the GC & Wii games were remastered for Switch so I can experience these beloved games myself.

Sat 29th Feb 2020

Awakening and Three Houses topping the polls tell me it’s probably from fans who’s entry point were those games in particular.

I do love the appreciation Radiant Dawn and Path of Radiance is getting from the polls. At least those games are 3rd and 4th (despite the fact they deserve 1st and 2nd).

Fire Emblem games we’re always high quality SRPGs. They only reason the series took off during the 3DS era was one special feature…. Casual Mode, making permadeath optional.

Sat 29th Feb 2020

Radiant Dawn u had to order over 20 characters each turn and I loved soothe and micaiah

Hobbesyall

Radiant Dawn was told in 4 parts and brought the story together in the last part nicely. Would love to see a remaster of Radiant Dawn and POR. I still say Micaiah should’ve had Robin’s slot in Smash Bros

Sat 29th Feb 2020

For me the two stand outs are Blazing Blade and Shadows of Valentia. Haven”t played Three Houses or Fates.

Sat 29th Feb 2020

While it may seem annoying of me to complain about your writers” list and then also complain about your reader list, in any case, a reader vote like this is still always (as has been the case whenever you”ve done them) going to skew towards the most recent ones because for a lot of people voting, those are likely the only ones they”ve played. Unsurprisingly, whenever you do these writers” lists or reader polls, the winner is almost always “the one that just recently came out.”

Haywired or because people don”t really like the older ones, or like the newer ones more than the older ones, and that”s not how this list is going, if you were right, then the list would be three houses, fates, warriors, shadows, and awakening would be top five, and it”s not, you”re just saying that do you”d have something to whine about

Dezzy Fates is the 2nd best-selling game in the series, and is in 7th place in the poll. PoR, Blazing Blade, SoV, and RD are all ahead of it and all sold worse.

Turbo857 I don”t believe it was casual mode that caused the spike in sales necessarily. Casual mode debuted in FE12 New Mystery of the Emblem. It was definitely the social sim elements, waifu designs, and marriage/child making.

DoofenshmirtzI don”t think there was anything inaccurate about my comment (I don”t think I was ever suggesting that the list would fall into some perfect reverse-chronological order). My main point is that the latest game will pretty much always win these polls regardless because it has a huge advantage for various obvious reasons. The fact that this pretty much always happens in the reader polls is understandable, the fact that it pretty much always happens in the writer polls seems a little fishy to me, but whatever.

Porky Also, advertising. They didn”t advertise Shadow Dragon or Radiant at all in the West outside of one or two little promos in Nintendo Power. Awakening had TV adverts and the like, so it reached a bigger audience.

Sat 29th Feb 2020

My favourites are still the GBA ones. I have all these games except the GC PoR (man I wish I picked that up back in the day) but I find myself returning again and again to Blazing Blade and Sacred Stones.

Sat 29th Feb 2020

Blazing Blade sparked a lifetime obsession. Echoes was beautiful and the only one to bring tears to my eyes. Three Houses is unbelievably addictive, literally have not stopped playing since launch. I”ve refrained from buying new games since because I can”t stop playing it. Those are my three!

Sat 29th Feb 2020

My top 3:1. Fire Emblem (The Blazing Sword/Blazing Blade)2. Fire Emblem Awakening3. Fire Emblem: Three Houses

Sat 29th Feb 2020

My personal list for Fire Emblems goes as such (including JP-only):1. Radiant Dawn2. Three Houses3. Awakening4. Path of Radiance5. Echoes6. Shadow Dragon7. Fates8. New Mystery9. Blazing Blade10. Sacred Stones11. Binding Blade

Genealogy of the Holy War and Thracia 776 are unlisted because I haven”t gotten around to playing them. IntSys has been dropping hints at remakes and western releases, so I”ll wait for them to officially come to the west since Genealogy”s gameplay speed gives me a headache.

Sat 29th Feb 2020

This is kind of a flawed way of determining this. You may as well have asked “which ones have been played the most?” And the answer to your question would be found in sales figures.

Sat 29th Feb 2020

You would dare to make us choose one over the other? How dare you! Every Fire Emblem game is #1! That poll should show 100% for each game. We should have a dedicated tv show about Fire Emblem. We should have schools that teach us about Fire Emblem. There should be Fire Emblem underwear. We need more Fire Emblem in our lives. The world should be named Fire Emblem Earth. And last but not least, only Fire Emblem games should be allowed to come out for gaming platforms. We need more Fire Emblem!

Sat 29th Feb 2020

I voted for Path of Radiance, Radiant Dawn and Three Houses, probably in that order. I wish I could give a negative vote to Awakening.

Sat 29th Feb 2020

I’m a 100% pervert so any game with skimpy dressed ladies is a go for me, hence why I LOVE xenoblade chronicles 2, trained my forearm lots with that game.

Ashunera84 Yeah, I always thought reader polls in video games were always garbage for that very reason. The only game I”ve played is Shadow of Valentia, so despite loving that game, I didn”t vote. But I do find it interesting which games scored really low. Anyone with a smart phone could give the mobile game a try, so I”m assuming a lot of people did play it at least a little. And Warriors is on the Switch and 3DS, so it had the potential for a wide reach. But apparently, Fire Emblem fans can smell heresy from a mile away and avoided or at least didn”t vote for them.

Sat 29th Feb 2020

Interestingly enough, the first three Western releases are my favorites, with Path of Radiance probably being my #1. I need to get caught up on some of the newer entries though.

Sat 29th Feb 2020

Well I guess this isn”t the best format you could use. If people can only choose 3 games without ranking them, it”s highly likely that the latest and most popular games will be in the first places, and the poll will look a lot like your ranking. And in turn, longtime FE fans will be annoyed once more.

Sat 29th Feb 2020

1. Thracia 7762. Radiant Dawn3. Path of Radiance4. New Mystery5. Genealogy6. Mystery7. Three Houses8. Binding Blade9. Sacred Stones10. Echoes11. Shadow Dragon12. Blazing Sword13. Fates Conquest 14. Gaiden15. Shadow Dragon NES16. Fates Birthright17. Fates Revelations18. that one satellaview game no one played19. Awakening

Sat 29th Feb 2020

I”ll share my opinions based on Sonic games.

SNES games/Genesis games = Classy games but a bit dated nowadays.

Binding Blade/Sonic Advance 1 = Same core game but modernized, better, an improvement in every regard.

Blazing Sword/Sonic Advance 2 = Why fix what isn”t broken? More of the same but with more content, better animations.

SacredStones/Sonic Advance 3 = Same as 1 and 2.

ShadowDragon/Sonic Rush = Some 3D elements, not exactly as good as the ones on GBA. Somehow has less content than the GBA games.

PoRadiance/Sonic Heroes = Mostly the same core game in 3D. Biggest game yet.

RDawn/Sonic2006 = Mostly the same core game, with frustrating moments, insane amount of playable characters, epic final boss. Certainly bigger than the last entry.

Awakening/Unleashed = Changes. Classic game style takes a hit, fanbase splits.

See also  Geek Squad At Best Buy Montfort Dallas, Tx 75240, Best Buy Prestonwood

SmashBrosBrawl/SmashBrosBrawl = This is the entry where they have the most in common.

Warriors/Sonic Battle = it”s cool to do spin offs every now and then.

ThreeHouses/Lost World = Formula changes again. Hard to adapt after being used to the previous style.

I almost compared Boom to Three Houses, but then remembered I had agreed to never acknowledge Boom was a thing. If Nintendo gives out the FE license (they won”t ever lol) then a comparison might be possible.

Sat 29th Feb 2020

Shadows of Valentia 100%. That game was criminally underplayed compared to Awakening and Fates, but it has a great cohesive story with wonderful presentation. The cast of characters is pretty great, and most of them don”t feel like they”re just cast aside once they join your party like in some other FE games. The voice acting is alao pretty top notch.

Dezzy Fates isn”t high despite outselling Awekining. Too bad, I think Conqest was a much better game than Awekining.

Sun 1st Mar 2020

Path of Radiance is my favourite and a remaster along with Radiant Dawn would be much appreciated as they”re both very expensive to buy today.

For some reason I could never quite get into Awakening, must have spent a long time playing the game and was over half way but got fed up with it. May give it another go.

Sun 1st Mar 2020

Makes a poll for the best fire emblem games. Only puts half the fire emblem games in the poll.

The poll is missing FE1,2,3,4,5,6,12.

Porky

No one in the West played New Mystery of the Emblem. As far as the west is concerned, Awakening started that trend.

Three Houses has sold the best in the series and doesn’t feature a child character creation feature (Thank God) and marriage was only a possible outcome saved til the end of game (where it belongs).

I’m gonna go with casual mode, possibly making the series more accessible to a wider audience as a main reason for FE’s popularity boost.

Sun 1st Mar 2020

Chrom or Chrome ))BTW, Awakening, my first FE game i play and love, alway #1 for me in any vote result game related to FE or SRPG, 3DS,….Three Houses right after second

Sun 1st Mar 2020

I”m just glad Fire Emblem Warriors got added to the list. I know it”s not a true Fire Emblem game but it”s great game. A true gem in my opinion.

Sun 1st Mar 2020

Three Houses is worlds better than earlier titles.

But otherwise I”d have to say Awakening, Sacred Stones, Fates, and Echoes are the best. Any of the titles with exploration/world maps/repeatable levels. They may allow for overlevelling, but are user friendly and that”s what FE needed and still needs.

It was on the verge of death before Awakening, and Awakening succeeded by replicating Sacred Stones” map functions.

Echoes is a close second to Three Houses due to the point and click adventure scenes and dungeons!!

Sun 1st Mar 2020

I think No.1 FE is..Fire Emblem: Genealogy of the Holy War (SNES)-> The Hard core story, Game Playing, Character, BGM..

I like..Fire Emblem Echoes: Shadows of Valentia (3DS)-> Good remake, Great DLC, friendly for light FE user

Porky In the West it did, as “New Mystery of the Emblem” wasn”t localized. “Awakening” was the first one with Casual Mode in the West, and it also had an excellent demo to help reel in new players, as well. There are also the facts that it was the first new Fire Emblem after many 3DS owners got to try out “Sacred Stones” for free, plus as mentioned it had better advertising.

Sun 1st Mar 2020

Honestly surprised Fates isn”t higher. I was under the impression it was mostly a vocal minority that hated it and its popularity was higher than people think it is. I”m a bit sad to see it really is as divisive as it appeared to be.

Oh well, at least Three Houses is on top and Heroes and Shadow Dragon are way in the bottom where they belong.

Sun 1st Mar 2020

I voted for my favorites out of the ones I have played, which would be (in no particular order): Fire Emblem Awakening, Fire Emblem (The Blazing Blade), and Fire Emblem Fates: Conquest. I haven”t played either of the Tellius games (hopefully these are ported at some point), the Birthright route of Fates, Echoes, or Three Houses.

I”m not sure spinoffs such as Fire Emblem Warriors should be included, but to each their own.

Sun 1st Mar 2020

I just went with the Wii one, just because it was the First Fire Emblem game I got hahah.

Sun 1st Mar 2020

Awakening, Heroes, and Warriors are literally the only three I’ve played for more than a few hours/enough to see the ending (except Heroes doesn’t really have an ending yet, but you get what I mean).

Sun 1st Mar 2020

I really didn”t like Fates, but I LOVED Awakening & 3 Houses and I”d like to try a few others

Porky Waifu”s and children lol. People really like games that allow them to breed their characters for more like Race Horses. Looking at you too Pokemon and hey the games that have that mechanic sell a lot so it works?

Sun 1st Mar 2020

Path of Radiance is my favorite Fire Emblem, I was shocked to see how low it was on your poll.

Sun 1st Mar 2020

I choose Fire Emblem Awakening and Fire Emblem: Three Houses. I still not finished Fire Emblem: Three Houses for all houses, but it is great already. Fire Emblem Echoes: Shadow of Valentia wasn”t good enought. Fire Emblem Fates was cruelly sliced in three pieces and have a horrible censorship, so I can”t even call it a game.

Mine would be Awakening and 3 houses and Sacred stones and Genealogy of the Holy war but that wasnt released here. And Fates was alright it tried something new but it didnt really pan out that well, props for making the pair up and weapon durability a more focused system.

Thankfully the gate keeping of the series has died down by some of its more toxic elements and the game has reached a good sweet spot.

Sun 1st Mar 2020

When history looks back or when another Switch Fire Emblem game is announced, reviewers will look at Three Houses in a different light. They will pick out the pros and cons and there will be a lot more cons on their list. The graphic style, the frame rate and the rather childish fishing, planting, tea party, schooling, tasks, etc which spoil an otherwise really good strategy game.

I sure purists will agree.

Sun 1st Mar 2020

I just wish that they will improve the game”s performance a bit as this is the only negative thing I found in a game that otherwise is a pure masterpiece.

Sun 1st Mar 2020

you guys couldn”t put all of them on? Y”all should know a decent amount of fire emblem fans play the Japanese games.

Dezzy how is “good sales” rigging the poll? Even speaking in terms of availability most voting here are FE fans and are not the general game fan public. Anyway if “sales” rigged the polls then surely FE Heroes would be number right? FE Warriors also sold more than Valencia and that”s not reflected. “Hardcore” FE fans are so toxic toward people liking the latter day releases that actually made the series permanently popular. What a ridiculous comment.

zool Looking back they”ll see Three Houses as the game that laid the new framework of what was to come next, taking thoughful steps toward evolving the series in a way that Pokemon shrugs aside. Warts and all Three Houses is an imperfect game that strives for so much, and hits so many highs, that it is easily my fav Switch game even tho something like BotW or Odessesy has way more polish and fine tuning.

Dang69 I agree Three Houses does appeal to a lot of gamers, maybe gamers that did not play fire emblem before, but there are those like me who would not buy a Three Houses 2 or similar game.

The monstery section is a very weak and basic RPG that detracts from the strategy of Fire Emblem.

I don”t play Pokémon, but I can see a comparison between those who do play it and those who like the way Fire Emblem has evolved.

Mon 2nd Mar 2020

Not a popular choice, but I went with Echoes: Shadows of Valentia.

For a change I quite like the story. Other 3DS entries (Awakening and Fates) had ridiculous plots and dialogues. Older FE”s weren”t as bad but were pretty damn dull on stories. This is the first one that i cared about.

I also liked the graphics, atmosphere and great production values. The gameplay was solid all around.

Second choice was Path of Radiance. A solid game all around.

Fates and Awakening have good gameplay, but I had to skip all dialogue and cutscenes because I felt that I was getting more stupid ever passing second i spent watching/reading it.

Mon 2nd Mar 2020

Three Houses, Awakening, and Fates (Conquest). Honestly though I could have swapped Fates for Blazing Blade or Sacred Stones depending on the day.

Mon 2nd Mar 2020

I”ve played three houses since one month ago, and my first fire emblem game, so far so good

Mon 2nd Mar 2020

Three Houses by far is my favorite. I was never really a big fan of the series but have played most of the games. Three Houses has made me appreciate the series more. Echoes is a distant 2nd place though.

zool Monastery doesn”t detract at all from the core tactics gameplay. IN FACT, if you skip all the monastery stuff (which you can) you could actually increase the challenge of the game for yourself. You obviously based that opinion off what you heard from other like minded people online who wanted a PURE old FE game and never played it. Do yourself a favor, buy it and have an absolute blast with it.

Dang69 hi, I have bought it, I am a FE strategy fan and I have played one of the houses, up to the last level which I”ve played a few times but I need leveling up some more. I guess I”ve done the basics I have to do in the monstery, setting auto, when I can, which I guess is not enough.

As much as I love the strategy play I get bored. Sub battles to level up would be ideal, but tea parties, fishing, school, tasks, befriending characters etc does have an AC feel to the game, which if you enjoy is great, but for me, not so much.

The same thing was said about Mario + Rabbids. The battles were great but the adventure bit in between was not so good. Although I did not mind that as much.

I was going to play all three houses and get the new download levels but I”ve stopped playing and I am disappointed.

Knighty_IX Person after my own heart. Genealogy and Thracia are my personal favorites, with the Tellius saga games close behind. I pray for remasters that do the Jugdral and Tellius sagas justice so that current players can experience those masterpieces, because lord knows they won”t go out of their way to play them otherwise.
