What Is One Tricking?
One Tricking describes a way to play the game as competitive as possible. Players who One Trick try to only play one champion on ranked ladder, and generally seek to achieve high stats with that champion. At high elo, most players will know how every matchup goes against every champion they face; this is why those who One Trick can often rank high without too much practice beforehand.
Why Is One Tricking Popular?
As you probably know by now, the popularity of one tricking has risen significantly this season. Why is this? Well, I’m not completely sure why it’s popular right now but I have a few guesses as to why everyone wants to be a one trick pony.
The first reason could be because everyone wants to focus on solo queue and climb the ladder this season. Climbing the ladder is extremely difficult if you are playing two or more roles at a high level, well that’s my opinion.
So, since there are only 120 champions in League of Legends many people can’t climb fast enough while being competent at all their roles.
The Pros & Cons of One Tricking in League of Legends
A satisfying feeling when you pull off a good play with your favourite champion. You can advance in League of Legends by improving one part of your game, which is something everyone should consider doing anyway!
It’s much easier to master a champion if you’re really focusing on it rather than splitting 50/50 between two champions.
One Tricking allows you to develop a deeper understanding of this champion, which allows for better decision making.
One Trick will help you climb the ladder faster since it’s easier to break into Diamond (Challenger) if you play one champion well than it is to be decent at many champions. It’s more fun to play League of Legends by yourself rather than partying with your friends.
You can coordinate a premade with your single account in Ranked Solo/Duo queue by trading off who leads the lobby and tells everyone when they’re ready to go!
League of Legends is a sport, and every sport has certain physical demands. League of Legends requires extremely quick reaction times that are not required in most sports. One needs to be able to click one mouse button 10+ times per minute or more (depending on the champion).
While this may not seem like much initially, it quickly adds up over time. The need to use these abilities, combined with the physical demand of playing the game can take a toll on your hands, wrists and arms. This can lead to chronic injuries that may force you to retire.
Best champions to one trick season 7
Darius – The Best Top Laner To One Trick
If you are looking for a really consistent one trick to climb with, look no further. Darius is definitely the best choice in my opinion due to his damage output. He has amazing scaling into late game and can also snowball pretty easily. It may be hard to play him in solo que because people usually ban him after seeing how difficult it is to play against a good Darius.
Diana – The Best Midlaner To One Trick
With the new season 7 changes of Diana, people find more and more that she is one of the most powerful mages in midlane. Champions weaknesses are now less noticeable, making her overpowered. She has a mobile kit with high damage which makes it easier to carry games.
Khazix – The Best Jungler To One Trick
Jungle is a very important role in League of Legends. A good jungler can carry games singlehandedly and be the key factor in turning around matches that look like they’re headed for defeat.
The best champion to one trick in the jungle is probably Khazix, who is both incredibly powerful when fed and also quite durable. The way to play Khazix is pretty simple: farm hard, get fed and kill everyone.
Khazix’s passive allows him to evolve his abilities when he gets a takedown, meaning that late game when you have access to the highest levels of cooldown reduction, your every ability will come up very soon after you use it.
This allows you deal an absolutely insane amount of burst damage, and also gives him more durability than your average assassin.
Ashe – The Best ADC To One Trick
There are many other champions who are good to one trick in the game, but Ashe is the best of them all because of how easy it is to win with her.
Her kit allows you to be very defensive and very aggressive at the same time if played right. She can use her E ability (Volley) to slow enemies down while simultaneously using her ultimate ability (Enchanted Crystal Arrow) to do a lot of burst damage.
Never play Ashe ADC in competitive games if you’re trying to win, always play her for fun and for the enjoyment of playing such a well designed character.
Thresh – The Best Support To One Trick
Thresh has that playmaking ability which I think no other support has (except maybe blitzcrank). The hook is really strong in laning phase and if you do it right, the enemy is either dead or at least you have your ADC with half hp.
You can abuse that so well in mid game by hooking someone out of position which sets up for an easy kill in late game when everyone’s level 16+.
The lantern is also really strong since you can pull off some really cool plays, especially in late game when you can use it for your ADC or yourself to escape sticky situations. The fact that people don’t expect much from Thresh players makes it even better since they are less likely to dodge your game.
Truthfully, Riven is not the best champion to one trick on but she is definitely up there. She can be played in any lane and she can be very easy or difficult depending on how good the player is.
The items on her are fairly simple Ninja Tabi/ Trinity Force/ Black Cleaver. Not much to say about Riven but her build is fairly easy to understand and she can be played in any lane.
Cassiopeia is one of the best champions to play as a one trick pony. Her kit is too strong and has too much outplay potential for other people to deal with her.
If you ever get counter picked, she can still do well because of her ability’s natural synergy with Attack Speed and Ability Power items like Luden’s Echo and Rabadon’s Deathcap.
She does really well against immobile mages such as Orianna, Anivia, Lissandra, Viktor or even someone like Nidalee if she builds mainly Ability Power since those champs will typically have trouble dodging Cassiopeia’s main damage source: Twin Fang
He is a champion that can be played in mid and adc, the most popular one trick this season.
He has a strong snowballing power, his axes have both “spin” passive and auto attack reset which makes him very dangerous in early game.
In late game, he usually doesn’t do anything since he can’t farm safely like other adc, but if he gets 3 to 4 items,he can easily kill other carrys with his ulti.
He also has a E dash that makes ganking him easy for enemy junglers.
His passive is reset when it kills minions, so he doesn’t lose stacks on csing against ranged champions like Ezreal.
He has 2 skins, bbq and mafia, but the best ones are arcade.
This champion is very good at one tricking but he takes some practice to get used to him, I would get at least 4-5 games in before you decide to one trick him.
The items on Yasuo can be a little tricky Ninja Tabi/ Trinity Force/ Blade of the ruined king / Black Cleaver / Maw of Malmortius. Once you understand how to play this champion and get used to him, he is very good and he will carry you every game.
Twitch is by far the most popular champion to one trick with, as he is a lane bully that snowballs really hard into the mid-late game.
Twitch is at his best when he goes for the early game bottom lane gank with red/blue side or just kills botlane in general. You can take any smite aggro jungle clear and then go straight into a gank on either side of the map if you’re running ignite, whereas teleport allows you to get out of midlane ganks and then rotate and kill botlane and snowball that way.
If you want to be a carry with insane burst damage, this is your champion. She is fairly easy to play, her items are fairly simple sheen/ trinity force / Liandry’s Torment / Rabadon’s deathcap. LeBlanc all in build really makes the other team do not even try and fight you because you will just destroy everyone.
This is the best champion to one trick on patch 7.1. Shaco is a chamelon type of champion where your clone will have 100% of your stats, that means that if you are lucky enough or skilled enough you can carry games with him easily.
The downside is that there are many champions which counters shaco like teemo, jayce or zed. So if the enemy has any of them don’t pick shaco.
But if they dont have these counters go ahead and make your team win by simply ganking bot lane with a smite as soon as level 3, it is super easy to snowball with Shaco on botlane, he can easily oneshot adc with his deceive and q ability.
Evelynn is by far the best champion to use if you plan on maining one champion in s7.
She received quite a few changes this season including stat buffs to her base damages, higher scaling ratios on AP items, new effect on her Q , and a new passive! Her old passives were OP but this is basically the same thing since she doesn’t lose stacks now.
Able to one trick Lux, she is a standard pick for midlaners in ranked games. She has lots of poke and range which makes her a very valuable champion in season 7.
With the new rune system, it became more important to get gold from lane rather than kills because of the fact that you gain more from farming gold rather than getting kills. Lux has her combo that can be maxed first in order to shove the wave and get items rather than dying in early game like Annie would do.
Sylas is a very good champion for One Trick because he can just destroy the games with his power. He has an AoE damage ultimate that can clear waves, and also deal tons of damage in teamfights.
Sylas has one of the strongest late game among all champions, due to being able to carry hard by himself or with a strong team.
Irelia is a really easy champion to one trick it doesn’t require any mechanics and you can just farm waves the entire game.
A good thing to do with Irelia is go in when an enemy is out of position and use your ultimate on them then just keep spamming E on them since that ability scales with hp which is important when you one trick it
Lee sin is a good champion to pick as you only need to improve your skill and mechanics with him. He can be top, jungle or mid and he is always able to carry the game if you keep improving during the whole season.
Zed is one of the strongest champions, which you can use to carry games and impress everyone. The main advantage here is that Zed needs very few items to be effective.
In addition, he has a high damage output even in early stages of the game, making it difficult for opponents to survive at least until the late stage of the clash. In addition, he is able to quickly pick up a couple of kills at the beginning of the match.
Zed was chosen by many players as one of the best champions in season 7 and has a lot of fans all around the world. His main task is to delete opponents from the map as fast as possible. Thus, if you have a goal to win, use Zed and you will see how many victories you can get.
Leona is top best champion to one trick in season 7 because of her early game tankiness and utility. She works very well with team comps that can snowball or be defensive, such as having a high damage adc like Vayne.
With the new support item changes she will scale harder into late game making it easier for her to reach the point of being an unstoppable tank that can either work in attacking comps or defensive comps.
What Makes Best One Trick Champions & LoL One Tricks?
One trick champions is a term to describe player that main and master one champion. People who master more than one champ in LoL but still think one champion as the best might be called as “Multi-Trick”.
Likewise, there are people who play all positions like Mid, Top, Jg etc. They don’t focus much on one position.
LoL Players who really master one champion are called as One Trick Pony, One Trick Champion or One Trick Laner.
They think that this is the best way to climb up in ranked ladder quickly and without wasting too much time for practicing other champions or roles. If they play more than once champion then they will start losing the knowledge of that champion.
Who is the best champion to one trick?
I have played many games in pro builds and also here at home. I’ve found that the best champion to one trick so far this season is Vayne . It does not have to be all three lanes, but just mid, solo or top works well for this build.
What is the best top Laner to one trick?
The best top laner is Trundle, he has the most game impact of any top lane champion in solo queue at all elo brackets. ;
His kit gives him more stats than most champions early on and leads to extreme lane dominance against every match up.
Trundle also scales very well into late game with items giving his kit even more utility that’s hard for enemies to itemize against.
Finally, unlike other champions that are limited by mana, Trundle doesn’t have any resource costs on his abilities allowing him to spam his long range Pillar of Ice (E).
