Such southern towns as Blanes and Loret de Mar can be easily reached by train from Barcelona. But the rest of the coastal towns are much harder to access if you don’t have a car.

Also, there are buses that can take you to the main towns of the Costa Brava from Barcelona, but the places are not well connected. So, you will hardly be able to get to the nearby town. To be able to enjoy your trip to Costa Brava, we recommend you to rent a car.

1. Cala Pola in Tossa de Mar

Cala Pola is located very close to the center of Tossa de Mar (about 4 km distance), between Cala Bona and Cala Giverola. In fact, it is one of many incredibly beautiful coves situated between Tossa and SantFeliu de Guíxols.

It is one of the most beloved coves of the whole coast because of the incredible landscape.

Cala Pola in Tossa de Mar

You cannot really access it by public means of transport or car, the area only opens for camping guests from July 21 to August 26.

For those not coming to stay a night, the cove is accessed by foot, crossing the campsite.

Although it might be quite crowded during the high season, you will be amazed by the natural beauty and intimate feel of the place.

2. Cala del Senyor Ramon

Cala del Senyor Ramon is one of the diamonds jewels of the Costa Brava. It is located near Santa Cristina d’Aro, between the townsof Sant Feliu de Guíxols and Tossa de Mar.

You can find it taking the GI-682 road (32 km), and the road trip will already be a great experience thanks to the spectacular views that will open to you as you drive by the Mediterranean sea.

The “cala” has a wild look thanks to its cliffs of about 800 metres and crystal clean water, which makes it perfect for snorkeling.

Moreover, the beach is listed as nudist, so everyone will feel welcomed there.

This cove is hard to reach. After leaving your car at the point where you see the indication of the cove, you have to walk quite a while. So, there are not that many people even during the high season, it depends on the luck you have the day you decide to spend a day there.

3. Platja de Sa Conca in Cadaqués

The town of Cadaqués is probably one of the most charming places you can visit in the Costa Brava. It is also well-known because of the annual festival held there every August. So, although it is located that far from Barcelona, the area will offer you a lot more than simply a relaxing beach experience.

And it features some of the best coves and beaches in the whole Costa Brava.

This beautiful beach is located about 1,2 km from the center of the town, and it is very easily acceptable by car.

This and the great amount of services available at the beach, make the Playa de Sa Conca one of the best options to come with the family.

The cove is divided into two areas: a pretty long beach of 400 metres with golden sand and the other part that is more rocky, that has been renownedCala dels Oriços.

4. Cala S’Alguer

The Cala S’Alguer is located very close to the town of Palamós. We love this beautiful cove not that much for the clean water and the beach itself, but for its charming atmosphere.

Once you get there, you find old little houses that used to be a fishermen’s nucleus back in the days.

Apart from that, the cove is one of the most peaceful places because of its location. To get there you have to leave your vehicle at the parking and reach it by foot crossing a 200 metres long forest.

5. Platja de Castell in Palamós

This beautiful beach is located just a few metres away from the town of Castell.

Its fine sandy area is about 300 metres long, and the water is crystal clear.

There are no buildings around it, but the beach features all kinds of services and amenities for everyone. These include a kayak school, as well as a wheelchair access for people with reduced mobility.

Apart from snorkeling and sunbathing, we highly recommend to walk around and explore the beautiful area.

The beach is accessed pretty easily, as there is a parking service available very close.

6. Platja Canadell

Located in Calella de Palafrugell, this beautiful beach is one of the biggest and sandy in town. The beach is about 250 meters long and is equipped with all the amenities for the best experience for the whole family.

On the right side of the beach there is a huge rock named “La Trona” that naturally separates this beach from the beach of Port Bo.

The rock is very popular among people of all ages, and you can see them enjoy themselves jumping off it in the deep water.In the center of the beach there is a small floating pier where you can rent kayaks and paddle boards.

Playa de El Canadell is a great choice for those people who look for the fun environment while having an opportunity to relax and sunbathe.

7. Cala d’Aiguablava in Begur

Before even starting to talk about this cove, it is important to say that the town where it is located itself is one of the most picturesque places you can visit in Costa Brava.

Although it is located pretty far from Barcelona, it is worth spending a couples of days there and exploring the area.
