Ariana Grande is an American singer, songwriter and actress best known for her chart-topping hits like “Problem,” “Thank U, Next” and “Break Up With Your Girlfriend.” The singer and actress started her career on Broadway and transitioned to Nickelodeon television shows before launching her successful solo career. 

Throughout her career, she has received a number of awards and accolades, including multiple Grammy Awards, Billboard Awards, American Music Awards, MTV Music Awards and Guinness World Records.

Ariana Grande-Butera was born on June 26, 1993 to parents Joan and Edward in Boca Raton, Florida. She has one older half-brother Frankie. She described herself as Italian-American. 

As of August 2021, Ariana has more than 263 million Instagram followers, 25.5 million TikTok followers, 84.1 million Twitter followers, 49.5 million YouTube subscribers and 44 million Facebook fans. 

Ariana started her career on Broadway when she made her debut in the Jason Robert-Brown musical “13.” 

Following the musical, Ariana made her debut in the Nickelodeon show “Victorious” in 2010 as Cat Valentine and stayed on the show for the next few years. She then acted in “Sam & Cat” from 2013 to 2014. Those two popular Nickelodeon shows made her a household name for many. 

In 2011, Ariana signed with Republic Records when the head of the label discovered YouTube videos of Ariana singing. Ariana has an expansive four-octave vocal range and whistle register, a rare feat for a singer. She released her debut album in 2013 titled “Yours Truly,” an R&B and pop album. The lead single, “The Way,” charted on the Billboard Hot 100. 

Her second studio album in 2014 was titled “My Everything” and labeled her as an up-and-coming pop artist. “Problem” and “Bang Bang” became number one singles in the UK. 

Her third studio album, “Dangerous Woman,” landed in 2016 and marked her first of three number one consecutive albums in the UK. She quickly released two more albums: “Sweetener” in 2018 and “Thank U, Next” in 2019. Both albums were massive hits commercially and critically. 

Several singles from her 2019 album, “Thank U, Next”, “7 Rings”, and “Break Up with Your Girlfriend, I’m Bored,” broke records. Those singles made Ariana the first solo artist to hold the top three spots on the Billboard Hot 100 all at the same time. She also became the first woman to overtake herself on the UK SIngles Chart and the first artist to chart lead singles from all of her five studio albums in the top ten on the BIllBoard Hot 100. 

When she released “Stuck With U” and “Rain on Me” in 2020, Ariana became the first artist to have the most number one debuts on the Billboard Hot 100. 

Ariana has won a number of awards and accolades throughout her career, including a Grammy Award, one Brit Award, two Billboard Music Awards, three American Music Awards, five MTV VMAs and eight Guinness World Records. 

In 2016 and 2019, Time Magazine named her as one of the 100 most influential people in the world. 

Ariana landed on Forbes’ annual list of highest-paid women in music twice: once in 2019 and once in 2020. 

Billboard named her their Woman of the Year in 2018. They also called her the most accomplished female artist to debut in the 2010s.

Ariana has been recognized for her social media as well. She is the most-followed woman on YouTube and Spotify. She is also the most-followed woman on Instagram and has been known to use her platform to advocate for important social issues.
